World renowned engineer, Graham Hawkes, created the DeepFlight series of positively buoyant, winged submersibles. The first DeepFlight submersible was unveiled by Hawkes Ocean Technologies (HOT) in the late 1990s. HOT is now on its fifth generation winged submersible. Hawkes designed the Deep Rover submersibles featured in James Cameron's 3-D IMAX film, Aliens of the Deep, and designed a significant percentage of manned vehicles used by science and industry.
