Orca Research Trust
Founder
Tutukaka, New Zealand
With a passion for orca since she was a child, Dr Ingrid Visser has researched the ocean’s top predator for more than 20 years.  Swimming with orca on a regular basis, to gain insights into their lives and the various orca cultures around the world, Ingrid’s research focuses on foraging behaviour.  As such she has observed orca feeding on sharks, rays, penguins, seals and dolphins.  Her work has featured in various natural history programs worldwide.

Dr Visser has rescued hundreds of whales and dolphins when they have become trapped on beaches.  Co-founding “Whale Rescue”, Ingrid and her team have designed whale lifting-equipment and rescue pontoons which are now used internationally.

Currently Ingrid is battling to save a young wild-born orca from certain death in an entertainment park, to return her to the wild and her family.
